Youth Initiatives in Godmanchester

What is happening?

A Huntingdonshire Community Safety Partnership - Godmanchester Problem Solving Group has recently been formed bringing together Godmanchester community representatives to look at initiatives to answer youth provision and anti-social behaviour/disorder issues. Town and District Council, church groups, Neighbourhood Watch, the Muir Group and the Comrades Club are among the organisations currently represented at the group meetings.

Although at the time of this magazine going to press, precise details are being finalised, some positive work is already beginning to flow from this group and from the additional provision of community youth work that has been made available to our town. Details of any specific schemes and plans will soon be publicised by poster and the Godmanchester web site (www.godmanchester.net).

What can you do and who to contact?

If you feel that you or the organisation you represent have a contribution to make to these improvements in the town, please contact the Town Office for dates/venues of future meetings (Tel: 388 870, townclerk@gmccouncil.freeserve.co.uk). Also, on an individual level, we are looking for local adult volunteers to come forward to assist youth workers. So, if you could spare a couple of hours a week to help, again please contact the Town Office.
