However, if it is to be successful, volunteers are needed to come forward now to assist in running it. Read the following information - if you are a young person interested in participation and the rewards on offer, or a potential volunteer then contact Live the Dream at Muir Group Housing Association, 01480 453234 |

DO YOU WANT TO GIVE SOMETHING BACK TO YOUR COMMUNITY?DO YOU HAVE 2 HOURS PER WEEK TO SPARE?WOULD YOU LIKE TO TAKE PART IN A NEW DREAM SCHEME FOR YOUNG PEOPLE?The scheme is operated by volunteers who plan and oversee projects. The aim of the scheme is to integrate and break down barriers between the young people, and local residents. Also to reduce the occurrence of juvenile nuisance, thus working towards the ultimate aim of sustainable communities. The sessions are run one evening each week for about 1½ hours. The children are aged between 8 16 years and they are involved in & learn skills in craft work, baking, art, IT, gardening, assisting the elderly on shopping trips etc., tasks which bring them into contact with the local community. The children earn points for the work they do and these points are saved up to put towards a trip out (i.e. Alton Towers, tea at MacDonalds, the cinema, paintballing, go-karting etc.) Why should young people get involved? By taking part you have the chance to gain points for the
work that you do, and these go towards dream trips of your choice. The work that you do in the Scheme is varied and can include
environmental tasks, planting projects, art and creative tasks or quite
simply delivering newsletters or leaflets. These tasks are not like work
but are more like fun. Dream trips can include trips to theme parks, water parks, camping or anywhere that Dream Scheme children would like to go. As long as you have earned enough points then your dream trip can be anywhere. Very successful Dream Schemes are currently running in other parts of the country. Dream Scheme training & Child Protection training, for volunteers, is arranged by Huntingdon Youth Centre. Criminal Records Bureau Enhanced Disclosure checks are arranged through Muir Group Housing, and Huntingdon Youth Centre Each scheme costs around £4/5,000 per annum to run (paying for setting up costs, equipment, rental of premises, and funding for trips). Each scheme applies independently for on-going funding, with assistance from Muir Housing Association. Funding has been secured by Muir Housing Association, from the Huntingdon Community Safety Partnership, and Godmanchester Town Council to set up the new Dream Scheme called "Live the Dream".
