Minutes of the meeting held on Thursday 9th May at The
Comrades Club
PRESENT

MINUTES
The minutes of the previous meeting were found to
be an accurate record.
WATER SUPPLY
Harry has been informed that there is no water supply
to the stand pipe on the recreation ground, therefore
we need to find a way of supplying water for Dal Raida.
It was suggested that we find a way of getting water from
the river for them to use to cool down, though obviously
this would not be suitable for drinking (and a bit smelly).
Stuart is to ask Charles if they have a water butt that
could be borrowed, Gordon is to enquire with the football
groups also. Nina will ask the fire brigade if they are

ARENA EVENTS
Stuart checked the arena events for the entry in
the Bridge Magazine
LA Fitness, did Alan contact them, what's happening? Has
anything been said about next year? AH
Kung Fu, Shirley is to let them know that we are full
for arena events this year, but would they like to be
in the carnival? Do an arena event next year? ShB
Sea Scouts, Shirley has contacted them, they will do a
display and possibly take part in the carnival. William
has dealt with the environment agency about use of the
river.
Juggler, Has Alan written? Shirley will need the contact
details to enquire about the parade, she will contact
Alan AH, ShB
PROCESSION
Bonnie is to write to the mayor and invite her to
judge the procession floats BoH
Fred & Shirley have been distributing carnival information
and there are about 16 items confirmed at present
Fred needs the contact details for Dal Raida
St Johns ambulance have confirmed their availability for
both days, we must provide them with a risk assessment
for both days with approximate numbers attending
Police, Harry is to write and ask the police to cone off
the entrance to Judith's Field and the Causeway.
It is to be made clear to those on floats that they cannot
throw sweets to children for safety reasons.
GALA DAY ISSUES
Beer, the bar is organised for 2-5 on Saturday and
1-7 on Sunday, Stuart will write and confirm SB
Grand Prize Draw tickets are being done
Judiths field is booked
QE School & the Porch Museum will be open on Gala
Day
One of the nursery groups are planning to have a bouncy
castle, Stuart is to tell them that they well need their
own insurance, they are not covered by ours. Stuart &
Charlotte to chase up SB, CO
Highwaymen, Has Alan chased and confirmed? AH
The WI have requested a trestle table, reminder to Alan
AH
Trestle Tables, Gordon found a contact who was selling
trestle tables off at £12 each. It was decided that
if they were still available we should get up to 10. Gordon
offered to collect them, he will need the money in advance.
Gordon will ring and find out if they are still available.

Charlotte has e-mailed Stuart her ideas for stalls

VOLUNTEERS FOR THESE STALLS NEEDED Stuart, Patrick and
Geoff Larcombe have offered their services, any others
welcome
Patrick has said he will leave his usual stalls to help
Charlotte. No junk jewellery etc
All Community association stall to be placed together
Stuart will contact Ali about finger food for Gala Day.
If he needs power he will need to hire a generator SB
Brian Marsh has organised a £250 1st prize for the
prize draw from Norwich Union . Other small prizes still
needed
Richard Morton has lost his contact for the St Ives burger
man. Can Fred supply him with the number of the woman
from St Ives Twirlers as she can contact him. RM, FC
Senior citizens, Bonnie to contact about teas BoH
Grass cutting has been ordered
Jeff Sharples can do the Bunting. Shirley asked if the
school could borrow the bunting. She promises faithfully
that it will be returned in time!
Tree lopping, has Alan looked into it? AH
Patrick has had contact from the jolly archers who will
do the same this year as in previous years
Stuart would like to remind everyone to bring a pair of
gardening gloves for when tidying at the end of the day!
GALA WEEK
There are three new events for this years Gala week.
A request will be put in the Bridge Magazine for groups
to volunteer events for next year.
Geoff will be contacting Charles regarding an awning for
the worship in the park
BRIDGE MAGAZINE
The Bridge Magazine should be ready for distribution
on 10th June. Stuart has requested that if a profit is
made on the magazine this year that it be donated to charity.
PICNIC IN THE PARK
A very impressive stage cover has been ordered, and a
map of the recreation ground is needed for the licence
application. Everything is under control!
DANCE
Harry has provisionally booked the QE School for
14th September, which will need confirming or letting
go. No decision has been made to the type of dance. Stuart
is to look into a group called 'Moosehead' who volunteered
for Picnic in the Park to see if they would be suitable.

ANY OTHER BUSINESS
It has been pointed out that as a limited company
we should have headed paper with the Charity number and
Limited company number on for all correspondence to keep
everything proper.
Harry & Alan feel that we need another signatory on
the number 1 account to allow more flexibility and in
case of ill health etc. It was agreed that this was a
good idea.
It was asked requested that when people go to events,
craft fairs etc, to get contact details and ideas for
next years events.
Stuart went through the contact numbers for the Bridge
magazine
