Welcome to the 2004 edition of the annual magazine from your Community Association, the guide to Gala Week 2004 and much more. The magazine is entirely funded by the generous support of the advertisers and I hope you'll contact them for their services, mentioning The Bridge of course!

Position Available: Editor for 2005
This is the seventh year I have been Editor, and a total of nine years of involvement, during which things have certainly changed. No longer do we receive content in hard copy, to retype; images are now electronic and the finished magazine is now sent to the printer in electronic format, not as printed pages. With encouragement from Stephen Spencer we have moved from black and white, to colour cover, and in 2003 introduced colour inside combined with increased content to 64 pages. After seven years I feel it is time to allow fresh ideas to come forward to shape the magazine over the next few years, and also pressure of work prevents me from doing more.

Therefore, if you have a PC with CD-RW, internet connection, can use a simple word processor and a willingness to “have a go” then call me now – remember, I hadn't done anything like this before either!! It is great fun, includes a good support group and at the end, a feeling of achieving something which people look forward to receiving. I look forward to the 2005 edition and the changes you'll make. My thanks to everyone who has been so supportive over the years, I know this will continue, including my own contribution and support to the new Editor.

Meanwhile, I'll continue as Chairman this year and will concentrate on enhancing my web site in terms of content and functionality. If the Young People are interested in participation, then I can set up specific content with them and provide a forum for their views at www.godmanchester.net
